Dull, flakey or dehydrated skin? Brittle hair? Parched hands? The Fact + Fiction team love being outside, especially in Autumn / Winter. Crisp, sunny, winter days are what dreams are made of! But colder weather + central heating can be a nightmare for your skin and hair. If you suffer from dry skin, or your skin / hair needs a pick-me-up, try our winter beauty faves.

1. Waxelene

If you're allergic to petroleum jelly or vaseline, or if you prefer something organic and natural, you need to know about Waxelene. It does an amazing job of moisturising dry and chapped lips, and is also great for cuticles and other problem dry skin areas. We're never without our mini tub of Waxelene. From £4.50.

2. Omega 3 Supplements

At this time of year, we need extra help. We always take these supps, but in the winter we up our dose to help combat flaked out skin and dry hair. We love Omax 3, from £20, an ultra-pure, and exceptionally concentrated, omega-3 supplement developed after years of research by Yale-affilited scientists.

3. Ren's Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask

Winter skin can be dull, lacking glow and feel dehydrated. This peel / mask is the perfect antidote and will help renew your skin tone and enhance brightness. £34.

4. Extra Vigrin Olive Oil

One of our all time favourite beauty all-rounders! We love to use it on our face at bedtime to reduce wrinkles and keep our skin baby soft. Its also great to use post pedicure or manicure - we put it in under our socks at bedtime (a lot going on at bedtime!). In the day, we use a tiny bit under our foundation to keep skin glowing and hydrated in even the coldest of temperatures. Its also great as a bath oil and hair mask! If you're going to include olive oil as a beauty supplement, make sure you get a good quality one - the best ones always come in a dark glass bottle and have a use by date. Mr Organic, £6, is great one.

5. Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid is a water molecule that cushions joints, nerves, hydrates skin and hair and fills the eyes. Taking a supplement every day during the winter months is essential for keeping skin looking plump and fresh, and your hair hydrated. Try Holland & Barrett's Hyalaronic capsules, £14.99.

6.  Dr Hauschka Hand Cream. It's natural ingredients won't irritate and it really lasts a long time. This non-greasy cream is great if you have dry skin or those who work in harsh environmental conditions. Plus it smells DELICIOUS! £11.
